Location: Lincoln
Player Note: Since the main character, Sir Gwyn, isn’t here I will run this as a quick intermission. Sir Bovert & Sir Roger will get checks in Intrigue & Hunting.Sir Roger and Sir Bovert join their Earl in traveling to Lincoln. They meet King Uther and his small contingent of guards along with Merlin and Duke Ulfius.
The Duke of Lindsey has been recalcitrant in obeying Uther lately. When they arrive at Lincoln the duke is not there. While waiting the nobles go on a hunt. Bovert and Roger being quite inept at hunting do their best to not get in the way.
A week later the Duke of Lindsey arrives and a feast is prepared. The duke is not pleased with Uther’s presence.
Sir Bovert Intrigue 10, roll = failure
Sir Roger Intrigue 3, roll = failureDuring the feast King Uther commands that everyone shall hear the tale of the Sword Lake.
Sir Roger Orate 13, roll 3 = success 10 Glory for speaking on the kings commandUther stops the tale when it gets to the part where Merlin pulls the blade from the lake.
“Merlin,” says the King, “Can you tell us more of this sword?” And, of course, everyone knows Uther has it, but Merlin then tells a part of the High History of Excalibur and ends by pulling it from under his robes, gleaming in the smoky halls and dispelling all shadows.
Duke Lindsey is sitting straight up in his chair by this time, as are his knights. They are, perhaps despite themselves, quite impressed. Lindsey’s attitude becomes warmer towards Uther, who is obviously enjoying himself even more.

This would make him a banneret knight. After the feast King Uther dispatches messengers to other nearby kings, inviting them to Lindsey. Sir Roger and Sir Bovert are sent to Malahut and the Centurion king, Heraut des Aprés.
In Eburacum, an ancient roman city, they are force to wait in the old part of the city. They are forced to wait several weeks for the kings return.
“Tell King Uther that I will visit him when I have leisure time.” The king says scornfully after they have delivered the message. Then they are dismissed and sent back to Salisbury.
Sir Bovert is distraught to hear that Lady Gwiona has died in childbirth while they were away. Despite his great feelings for the lady he does not claim the child as his.
Sir Roger and Lady Adwen plan a wedding feast to be held in autumn.
Scene 2
Scene: Naval Raids
Character: Sir Gwyn
Dramatis Personae: Sir Emeric, Prince Madoc, Sir Jaycob & Admiral Gwenwynwyn
Location: Hantonne
Gwyn had traveled with Sir Emeric to Hantonne, where they met Prince Madoc’s force. A little less than a hundred knights have showed up from all over Logres.
The admiral, Gwenwynwyn son of Naf, watched the knights with a critical eye as Prince Madoc had given his commands. This was a strictly military operation. They were not invading, seeking plunder or here for the love of battle. The knights were to protect the sailors as they burn any Saxon ship’s they find along the coast line.
The ships they traveled on were cramped with knight’s and sailors. They kept close to the coast lines and put into land each night.
The first battle started as they landed in Pevensy.

When they sail towards the Colne they are assailed by a small Saxon fleet. Their war ships are filled to bursting with Saxon’s as a bloody battle ensues on the Blackwater.

Scene: Banneret
Character: Sir Gwyn
Dramatis Personae: Sir Bovert, Sir Emeric, Sir Roger
Location: Salisbury
Sir Roger’s wedding was held in Sarum. Due to Lady Adwen’s sizeable inheritance Sir Roger would become an banneret. Four knights were now in service to him, ready to lend their sword to his cause. Gwyn was still feeling his injuries from battles but was healing quite well. He was happy to have a chance to spend time with his new wife, Lady Anarawd.
Roger and his new bride look resplendent up at the high table. Roger sat next to earl, deep in conversation. Gwyn was trying to make a good impression on Lady Anarawd but found most of the feast to be to distracting.
Roger had summoned Sir Bovert to the high table. They seemed to be comparing notes on etiquette. Gwyn had a suspicion that Roger was attempting to raise Bovert’s standing in the eyes of the earl.
“You lick spittle little priest, what do you know of honor!” Emeric was red in the face and yelling at a local priest. His wife, Lady Morgan, placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. Emeric sat down and looked mortified.
The evening continued and Lady Anarawd turned her attention to Gwyn. He felt elated, and as if something was going in the right direction. They seemed less awkward than they had at their own wedding. He barely noticed the servers bringing in wine and ale.
Bovert was drinking and seemed cheered by the occasion but Gwyn sensed that it was all a facade. He hadn’t been the same sine the new of Lady Gwiona had shocked Sarum.
Emeric was still sulking and refused any more of the offered ale. He saw that Bovert was starting to get a bit loud when talking to one of the serving girls. Standing up he offered to take the drunk knight of the young woman’s hands.
“You are gentleman and a scholar.” Bovert said as Emeric helped him to his feet.
“Let’s go for a little walk, get some fresh air.” Bovert followed, with a steady arm to lean on.
Gwyn saw that Roger and the earl was again in deep conversation. Roger was moving up in Salisbury. Suddenly he had earned more esteem than a lot of more senior knights. All agreed that the wedding feast had been a success. Even Bovert, after his hang over had subsided.

Woodford Manor has a terrible harvest this year, but due to frugal savings and Lady Anarawd’s sizeable dowry they stay afloat. Idimston has a meager harvest but manages to support Sir Jaycob.
Lady Anarawd gives birth to her and Gwyn’s first child. A daughter they name Efa. Gwyn finds out that his wife is a capable chirgeoun and helps tend to his wounds. Their growing little family is a happy one. Still Gwyn broods and plots his revenge against Beorthric.
Lady Morgan gives birth to a son that she and Emeric name Tathan. Emeric is again invited to spend time at the earl’s court. Despite his uncouth manner he is becoming better acquainted with the court.
Lady Adwen gives birth to a daughter, that they name Morwenna. Sir Roger stays home as much as possible with his new responsibilities.
Sir Bovert performs his vassal duty by fending of a raid against Saxon barbarians. He doesn’t complain as much as usual. Staying out of Sarum’s courtly affairs helps fend of any rumors.

Player Note: Sir Roger continues the trend of leading the pack. His marriage to Lady Adwen was a big boost. A terrible year for Sir Bovert both in terms of glory and personal drama.
Sir Roger will be demoted from player knight to npc. Both because he is moving up the social hierarchy and because it will be easier to only check three characters.Question & Answers
